It was December 2014 when I purchased my first DSLR camera. A gift given beyond the grave from my dad. <3 I was SO EXCITED to finally be able to learn this art form on a new level. There was ONE little catch in my mind at the time... it was winter in Wisconsin! Silly me! I took it as a personal challenge to find winter beauty in Wisconsin.
Now, every winter I look forward to my photography adventures. The blue hues this time of year are unlike any other time. I've fallen in love with frozen weeds or weeds that have apparently served their purpose the previous season. But here they are in their own right looking beautiful. This cattail above is one of my all-time favorites.
It reminds me of a dear sweet old friend, who during WWII would gather cattails to make lifejackets, pillows, beds, and even baseballs during the war. How cool and resourceful is that?
